30 for 30

My friend Janet recently told me about the “30 for 90″ clothing challenge. It’s where you choose 30 items currently in your closet (including shoes, excluding other accessories) to mix and match for the next 90 days. And you don’t shop. When you’re done with the challenge, you’re supposed to have a  much better idea of what items you “need” and don’t just “want”.

So yesterday I cleaned out my closet and chose 30 spring items to wear through the end of May, when Spring ends (in my book). Then I’ll do 30 for 90 for summer (June, July & August).

Want to try it with me? PLEASE?!
FUUUUUNNNNNN!!

Pictured above is my first outfit.

shades: forever 21 $4
jacket: c/o my mom
top: target $3
pants: banana republic outlet seven years ago (I think I need new white pants.)
shoes: marshalls $15

Wow, Sam. That seems like a challenge. But maybe I could buy into it. Will you get more detailed about how you decided on the 30 pieces??

Sam! I’m in! I just have a couple questions. What are the rules regarding Work v. Non-Work because those wardrobes are really separated (they rarely crossover)…

Also… To spur clothing spending, I once decided not to buy anything for a month and then wrote down desires as they came up (I even tallied them if I thought about them more than once). It was so fun to see what I really wanted and what I was momentarily fashion lusting over… it also directed my spending dollars too.
